IMMIGRANTS

Not numbers, not a problem — faces. 64 portraits of immigrants in Italy.

Personal Worky2010

Immigrants. The news turns them into numbers, a problem to be managed, a wave to be stopped. This series does the opposite: it stops, and looks at one person at a time. No staging, no pity. Faces met where life actually happens — markets, building sites, sidewalks, kitchens. Each portrait is an encounter, not a report. Shot in Rome. Sixty-four photographs of people who are already here — already neighbours, already part of the city.
